RAW MATERIALS:
Raw materials required for the manufacture of compound asafoetida are
:
Asafoetida - solid type, powdered
Asafoetida – pasty type
Gum powdered
Starch (Wheat flour/rice flour/ maize flour)
All the raw materials should be free from impurities, adulterants, insect
infestation and should have low moisture content. The raw materials
like wheat/rice flour/ maize flour are prone to insect infestation,
if stored for longer time and hence need to be disinfested by fumigation.
Dehydration of these raw materials prior to grinding and further use
in processing will improve the shelf-stability of the finished products.
